World’s Longest Cross-sea Bridge Starts Operation

Qingdao Jiaozhouwan Bridge is the longest cross-sea bridge in the world, and Jiaozhouwan Tunnel is the longest sea tunnel in China. This bridge and this tunnel started operation at the same time on June 30th, 2011.

JiaozhouwanBridge originates from Haier Road in eastern Qingdao city from east, over-cross Jiaozhouwan, and finally reaches Huangdao Red Rock Cliff in the west.  Interchange bridge was built at the middle of the main bridge to connect to the Red Island. Main Bridge has two-way eight driving lanes.   

Twenty-two science research projects, two Chinese “National 863 Plan” projects, and twelve patents were established for Jiaozhouwan Tunnel, created first tunnel construction standard in China.
